After I finished my Spring semester and portfolio, I decided to embark on a home project: taking down some horrid wallpaper and putting a bright colored coat of fresh paint and updated look. I thought, "3 days should be enough time. Piece of cake!" Well, little did I know this would take a month and a week to complete because of some major/minor bumps along the way.
This first picture is the beginning stages of wallpaper removal. I rented a steamer from Home Depot to be environmentally friendly and proceeded to painstakingly remove this superglued wallpaper. 15 hours later. It was finally off except for the border. I succumbed to purchasing some chemical to remove the border and basically scrap the wall off. See the picture below with the border stain. : )

I started to get curious about this spot I found on the wall. I was ready to prime and paint, but realized it was a no go. Yes, that is a termite nest in the far corner of the bathroom. After making phone calls to our termite company and their contractor and 3 weeks later. It started to look something like below.

After one coat of primer and 3 coats of Bonsai Tint paint, it was complete and looked something like this. What an adventure! However, it is not complete as I need to go back a sand a part of the wall and repaint it from the poor spackling job I had done to fill holes from the steamer's ability to remove several layers of paper, glue and paint. Also, I need to go back and re-do the edge between the ceiling and wall. But, I am no professional so that will have to be completed on a rainy day when I am finished with my last 4 classes of my masters degree this summer. : ) Happy Trails!
